General Description of the Feature
In order to avoid problems with the VIN validation for different machine types that have less than 17 digits the following needs to be implemented:
• A setup key that gives the possibility to turn the 17-digit validation for VINs on or off (Standard: Validation Activated (True))
• Have a possibility (most likely also by Setup Key) to define the number of characters for the VIN validation (Default value: 17)
When the user creates a new vehicle or edits one and the 'Enables VIN Validation functionality' = False the validation is disabled and the VIN can be stored on matter the length of the value in this field.
Business Benefit
The user can deactivate the VIN validation and choose how many digits to add to the value entered in the related field.
